Yang 陽  is the Chinese character associated with being masculine, positive and bright.

It is usually used in relation to the traditional Chinese theory of Yin(陰) and Yang 陽  where Yang represents the male or positive energy and Yin(陰) represents the female or negative energy of the physical world.

The famous theory of Yin -Yang which dates back to ancient times, explains the nature of the universe in terms of these two opposite but at the same time complementary - interrelated forces or principles.

The character yang is also used to refer to the sun, as in (tai yang) and sunlight , such as (yang guang).

"Yin" on the other hand, is the opposite (female) principle in nature, used to refer to the moon, as in (tai ying) as well as the lunar calendar,(yin li).
